Adirondack Mountains 2013

Hi! My name is Rob and I am currently a graduate student at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa working towards a master’s degree in Information and Computer Science. I received my bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Creighton University in 2004.

In addition to my studies, I am employed as a software developer at an insurance company in downtown Honolulu as well as a teaching Assistant for the ICS department. Over the last several semesters I’ve TA-ed the following courses:

  • ICS212: Program Structure (C and C++)
  • ICS312: Machine-Level & Systems Programming
  • ICS332: Operating Systems
  • ICS432: Concurrent and High-Performance Programming
  • ICS475: Bioinformatics

I am on track to graduate in December 2016 and am working with my advisor, Henri Casanova, on establishing an automated calibration methodology for simulations of complex, distributed computing systems. Part of this work involved building a simulation of Apache’s popular Hadoop application, an open source implementation of Google’s MapReduce framework. If you’re interested, feel free to browse the source code on my GitHub page.
